Sree Narayana Guru Swami

Sree Narayana Guru Swami, was a path breaking saint who redeemed millions of other backward community people who were not allowed to use public roads and were denied school education and access to places of worship. They were not admitted to government services either. Dr. Palpu, a qualified medical practitioner was not only denied appointment in government service but also advised to take up the job of a toddy tapper by the then Maharaja of Travancore. Guru was born into an Ezhava family, in an era when people from backward communities like the Ezhavas faced social injustice in the caste-ridden Kerala society.

He led Reform movement in Kerala, revolted against caste system and worked on propagating new values of freedom in spirituality and social equality which transformed the Kerala society.
